Easter Egg brownies

This is a very easy, child friendly recipe that can use a lot of those left-over chocolate eggs, which can be quite daunting,  if like us you are still finishing off Christmas and Valentines sweeties.  With a little supervision, get the children involved and serve up a delicious tea-time treat for all to enjoy.

 A perfect way to use up leftover Easter eggs. Spend time making these brownies with your loved one. 

Ingredients
  • 200g of leftover easter egg chocolate
  • 200g butter
  • 100g plain flour
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 275g caster sugar
  • 100g of chocolate chips

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Pre-heat the oven to 350F / 180C / Fan 160C / Gas 4

Step 2

Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper

Step 3

Melt the butter and easter eggs together in a heatproof bowl over a pan of boiling water

Step 4

When butter and chocolate have melted, move the bowl onto heatproof surface to cool

Step 5

Whisk the eggs and sugar together until mixture is light and fluffy

Step 6

Sieve flour, cocoa powder and baking powder into the mixing bowl and gently fold in

Step 7

Add the chocolate chips and stir to mix gently

Step 8

Spread the mixture into the prepared lined baking tray and cook for 20-25 minutes until the brownie mixture is just firm

Step 9

Allow to cool for 10 minutes then carefully remove from the tray and cut into squares, then allow to cool on a cooling tray
